It is known that the sanitary requirements in the food industry are increasing. A few years ago, I attended a congress of fumigators in the United States where an eminence of the Purina company explained how they sanitized the shelves of the supermarket gondolas where they would place their bags of pet food. This served as a trigger to start working on a program of sanitation and preparation of the stores where we place our food. After almost a year of consultations, tests and check-ups, we came up with what I now call the Integrated Sanitation System "ISS".
This treatment consists of three levels:
emoval: Pressurized air will be used to remove all the incrustations of merchandise that are in the area to be sanitized. This will work in three levels: This first stage of preparation and cleaning, will allow us to reach warehouse’s structure and remove all foci of infection.
• Floor level: with the aid of sweepers and shovels, all merchandise from the floor + the first meters of walls, floor-wall joints and discharges will be removed.
• Medium level: The work will be done in height with scissor lift platforms, which will allow us to have a better result in the first third of the roof (critical area because it is a zone of little traffic of the merchandise and is more prone to the proliferation of foci of infection).
• Upper level. Pressurized air will be used from the cargo catwalk removing the remains of merchandise found in pissed, roof, ribbons and catwalk.
This first stage of preparation and cleaning, will allow us to reach warehouse’s structure and remove all foci of infection.
arvesting: Once the first stage is finished, all the merchandise removed will be collected and a curative fumigation treatment will be carried out in an agreed space. Partial treatment of these residues is essential because of their high potential for re-infection.
umigation: Liquid, dry insecticides, mycotoxin controls, salmonellacides and a wide range of preventative and residual products will be applied to all structures to avoid contamination of the stored product.
This task will also be worked on three levels with equipment of pressure and thermo nebulizadora. This stage will be called protection stage. From here, the different Integrated Management procedures will be applied, which will give you a security and continuity to the control of the stored merchandise. This new concept is applicable to all types of storage. Bulk, bagged, pelleted, discarded, reprocessed, etc.
